Like the Emu 0404 USB audio/MIDI interface.

does that act as your sound card, or bypass it or something? or do you still need a powerful sound card?

Answer by MattYes, an audio interface is essentially a powerful soundcard... in a box! I assume you're looking for something to record with?

While it works 'okish' most of the time, USB isn't really the best
