What equipment do I need to make hip hop beats?

Question by Curious George: What equipment do I need to make hip hop beats?
I'm tired of using Sony Acid and FL Studio although they do work great but I need to step it up a notch. I can write perfect rap lyrics I have been in songs with small time rappers in my local area and people have cheered hard for me and they ask me if I will ever make my own music.
