Problem inputing notes on pro tools le midi editor?

okay, so what used to happen, is when the midi editor was open, i would press on a division in the beat, using the grids to help show where they were, and just drag across how long i wanted the sound to last. But now, when i click on a division, it doesnt automatically assign the note onto the begining of the division i clicked in, but just starts the note exactly where i clicked.
