midi cable or usb cable for dj controller?

Question by Hero: midi cable or usb cable for dj controller?
I have an m-audio torq xponent dj controller and it has two midi connections. (I'm guessing for in and out) But the controller already came with a usb cable.

My mac does not have a midi connection so I would need a midi to usb cable. Should I just get a midi to usb cable also?
Or should I just stick with the usb cable that it came with?

Also last question what is the midi cable for?
